About Mike
Early Life
Mike was born to a teen mom in the Pacific Northwest who spent the first few years of motherhood facing all of the challenges known to single mothers - struggles that remain mostly unchanged today.
Fortunately, she found and married her life partner who accepted Mike as his own. Mike and his three younger siblings were raised in a proud Navy household, bringing along the experiences and challenges that come with frequent moves and overseas deployments experienced by every military family.
Through those experiences, Mike learned the importance of balancing independence and community. Thanks to the ever-changing and evolving community around him, he gained an appreciation for diverse points of view.
Adulthood
Mike became a parent and started working while still in high school. Around the same time, he secured a full-time job to support his new family. It paid minimum wage, but he seized the opportunity to launch his career. By dedicating himself to continuous improvement, he found unique ways to add value for those around him and he climbed up to, and through, the middle class, eventually earning a seat at executive tables.
As he worked his way up, he saw firsthand how hard it is to get ahead when the systems we rely on work against us and he is determined to make a change.
Today
Today, Mike leverages his extensive experience in operational excellence and community engagement to help organizations work better and serve more people.
With a history of founding multiple voluntary organizations that emphasize diversity and a passion for inclusive change, he’s spent years turning his values into action. Businesses of all sizes have sought out his expertise, and he's deployed solutions used by communities around the globe.
He's used his knowledge and skills to generate more than a quarter of a billion dollars in savings for industry leaders in healthcare and human resources, and now he wants to bring those skills to the public sector to make life better for everyday Americans.
The Future
Mike’s vision for the future is a Florida where the government is more accountable, more effective, and more humane.
He believes in building systems that uplift working families, reinforce personal security, and deliver results that make our lives better.
